Her Studio
You don't need permission to call yourself a Director. You need the work to prove it.
WHAT HER STUDIO IS
For food photographers who are done shooting pretty pictures on demand - and ready to find out what happens when their project work looks like a movie set.
Her Studio is the thing I wish someone had handed me years ago. We shoot one personal project a month, built around a story, with real creative direction behind it (not just "go shoot something pretty").
This is a way of working that starts pulling in the right clients - the ones who want the Creative Director in you, not just a photographer shooting the decks.
Twelve months from now, you'll have twelve real projects behind you. A portfolio that finally looks like you, not everyone else's feed. And enough steady work coming in that the constant hustle for the next job starts to feel optional instead of survival.
01
The Concept

A monthly brief - based on a story, like a scene from a film.
You're never staring at a blank page. You'll have direction and creative thinking.
You just bring your own world to it.

02
The Direction

Step-by-step training on how to develop a concept into a full story.
We cover styling, lighting, set-building, and shooting with intention.
Creative direction for photographers who already know how to shoot and want to shoot with more purpose.

03
The Pitch

How to present your work like a creative director and turn each project into something you can show brands confidently.
Building the work is only half of it.
Knowing how to talk about it is what gets you in the room.

04
THE COMMUNITY

Live calls, project feedback, and a space full of photographers building at the same level.
The kind of people who get it without you having to explain it too much and who inspire you to work on more creative ideas.
This is where we get you into action mode.

12 campaign-level projects that show what you're capable of, and your unique point of view.
A visual identity that's unmistakably yours, so people look at your work and immediately know it's you.
The creative confidence to build projects without second-guessing every decision.
A clear way to talk about your work to brands so the pitch feels as strong as the portfolio.
Proof that you were always ready. You just needed a little push to get there.

The community
The best part? You're not doing this alone.
One of the best things that happens inside Her Studio - and one of the most valuable - is finding yourself around people who are working at the same level. A room full of photographers who are serious about building something exciting, who give helpful feedback that makes your work better, and who make you feel like the work you're doing matters.
No pressure to show up a certain way. Just support when you need it, and the kind of company that makes your own work better.

How it works
1. You join
You land inside the current month's project lab - brief, training, creative direction and community all ready for you. No three-week onboarding. You're in and creating by the end of the week if that feels good, or you can take your time getting to know everyone first.
2. You create
With a clear concept, real direction, and a community around you - you build something you're genuinely proud of. Work that looks like you, not like a brief someone else handed you.
3. Your portfolio shifts
Month by month, you build a body of work that speaks a clear, consistent language. The kind of portfolio that makes art directors stop scrolling. The kind that makes the brands you want feel right at home.

"I built Her Studio because I've watched too many talented photographers talk themselves out of their best work"

FAQ
I'm not based in the UK does that matter?
Not at all. We currently have photographers joining from the US, Canada, Europe, and Australia. Everything - briefs, trainings, resources - is fully accessible wherever you are. Live calls run late afternoon UK time, but every single one is recorded, so you can watch in your own time if you can't make it live.

I have never worked with a food stylist, can I still join?
Yes. Her Studio is about building your creative practice and developing your directorial thinking - not about having a full production team behind you. If you want to start collaborating with a stylist at some point, we can support that. But it's absolutely not a requirement.

What exactly do I get each month — what's the format?

Each month you receive a campaign brief as a PDF and a recorded video training where I walk through the creative direction and my process step by step - so you know exactly what you're working toward and how to get there. You'll also get access to Canva templates you can use directly in your own business, plus any additional resources relevant to that month's project. It's a mix of video, downloadable resources, and live calls.

What if my financial situation changes, can I cancel?
Yes, anytime. Cancel and you keep full access to everything until the end of your billing cycle. No awkward conversations, no obligations.

I've done other photography courses and been disappointed. How is this different?
Most photography education is either technical (for people still learning to shoot) or aimed at food bloggers rather than commercial photographers. Her Studio isn't a course at all - it's a creative practice built specifically for photographers who already have the skills and want to build the portfolio and the brand that attracts better clients. If you've felt like existing courses weren't really for you, there's a good reason for that. This one is.
